whenever someone becomes president just because the left is unhappy with obama in many respects because he would see what happens on the space opposition. if obama wins the second term that is going to be the interesting question my optimistic view of history is different from jessica. we have been missed partisan and defied and gridlocked many times throughout our history. many times people were buried and said democrat and republican on the tombstone. the newspapers or democratic present republican newspapers. i know you remember the tariffs dispute very well, but there was tremendous gridlock and it took decades to get devotee and the way the american system work is almost designed to create this. i wish i could say that there was this functionality but i'm afraid it is almost designed to create this just when you think that it is about to blow, sometimes although not all the time we had a civil war because we couldn't solve these problems but some -- often there is a coming together and i actually am optimistic the we will cease and dealing with these issues. >> i think we may also hav

and then we are going to open it up for the rest of you folks -- president obama one last time and beat senator mccain by seven points. now, part of it was you know, 66% of the vote among 18 to 29-year-olds, 67% of the vote among latino voters. african-american was like 95-4 or something like that and the poll has shown the african-american vote is rocksolid for the president and the numbers extremely high so lets let's just sort of assume rough parity with last time. but the question was, as you suggested the turnout levels among latino voters and i would add young voters very much questionable and when i have gone on campuses i cannot find a pulse. you saw a registration table registered to voters. there might be a couple of people behind the table to register people and nobody in front of the table registering. there's there is just no pulse there. is it safe to say that a seven-point margin becomes you know, six or five or four? sort of taking turnout down among these two groups? just by necessity this was going to be a lot closer. >> look in 2008, the president had to win this back

the obama administration is doing right now it's not that many believe could different than what the bush administration did in the two terms especially at the end and given that there is that consensus that's one of the reasons they are not issued in the political campaign but i think it's also one of the reasons why things are in the national security area. >> this will be the last security to that question. >> i think a lot will depend on who the next president is, because i think that there will be several justices who are getting older but i think most of them would feel if they are voluntarily retiring and not forced to do so by health concerns or some other extenuating circumstances the honorable thing to do would be retiring during the term of the party that appointed you in the first place so you could see justice ginsburg now that she's accomplished. i think she's trying to make a record for how long she's on the court and she will accomplish that in 2014. you may see scalia or kennedy retire if they get president romney. it makes a huge potential shift in the court based on the

, it goes back to the election of the president obama and the real energy he brought on the campaign trail in 2008 to the question of transparency and the kind of government i think we all envision. from my perspective by about 2010, that energy had kind of dissipated and a lot of efforts have gone toward a lot of things and we were not seeing that sort of dramatic transformation that a lot of us could visualize. we could imagine knowing what the power of data is but it wasn't happening very much. that caused me to do some work that i will describe here that resulted in some grades that i talked about. grading is a cruel art but sometimes it's a necessary art to communicate things. what i did was i looked at the problem of sort of lacking transparency efforts around 2010. it looked to me like maybe the transparency community hadn't communicated well enough to the government decide what side what it was we wanted to go a lot of efforts have gone out there that didn't really have a direction the direction or a destination and so i sat down with some technical people. i'm a lawyer so i had to

barack obama and governor mitt romney. tonight's town hall meeting provides us with a unique and strategic opportunity to put our important and crucial minority vote front and center because this is about us, our families, our communities. it's about our future. most of you know that about 35 states have reportedly passed measures that would restrict the right to vote, particularly among black and hispanic voters. probably many of you have heard today the state of pennsylvania struck down. so these measures could far as many as 5 million potential voters in casting your vote on who will lead the country for the next four years. the longer-term effect of this could severely impact how our country moves forward. the impact could be just as significant as the well-known brown v. board of education. the landmark supreme court case in which they declared the state law establishing separate public schools for black and white students was unconstitutional. some seem to think that one of the candidates, and i won't name which one stands for turning black back the clock in many ways s
